Guidelines For Senior Photos

I have nothing to wear! Ah, but you likely have a closet or chest of drawers full of great clothes. For starters, neutral and solid colors always work well. They are not distracting and will make your beautiful smile show out. As far as colors, pastels are always good. Blues, creams, yellows, light gray, etc. are perfect and fit with all types of surroundings. Most importantly, it’s best to pick a color which looks great on you.

So, you’ll want to bring several outfits with you. Both casual and dressy or a combination thereof. And bring something you truly love to wear.

For the girls:

Casual: Jeans are always good with a top or blouse and your favorite shoes. Or it could be shorts with a beautiful blouse or top. Picking a dressy blouse or sweater to go with the jeans always looks nice, too.

Dressy: A flowing dress or a skirt with a classy top is classic. Think of yourself as your favorite movie star at an awards show.

For the guys:

Casual: Jeans work well paired with a flannel shirt or a button-down shirt.

Dressy: A dress shirt and dress slacks or even jeans with a jacket over your shoulder is classic. Or if you want to be even bolder dress like James Bond. The look is timeless.

Accessories: Hats, scarves, and your favorite shoes are great for accessories. If you have a hobby or sport you love, bring a football, your guitar, baton, or whatever it is that makes you – you.

Things not to bring: Clothes with small patterns don’t look great, nor do bright neon colors. Logos are distracting, lettering and strips are out, and please don’t bring wrinkled clothes. There’s only so much editing software can handle. Clothes that don’t fit are best left at home. You won’t look right if the clothes are baggy or too tight.

Hair & Makeup: Wear your hair like normal. It’s best to not have your hair cut right before a photo shoot. It doesn’t look natural and needs time to grow out. For makeup, natural is best, but if you need to use makeup, don’t overdo it.
